Most Interesting Place in Terengganu For Tourist

 KUALA TERENGGANU WALKING TOUR

1.The Maziah Palace (Istana Maziah) which was built between around 1897 and 1903 as a residence      and reception venue for the Terengganu royal family.

2.It too has been remodelled a number of times, most recently by the addition of the two towers              flanking the main entrance which have given it a kind of theme park look.

3.This palace is not normally open to the public but you can visit the mini-park in front.

1.Next turn left onto Jalan Sultan Zainal Abidin and follow it until you find the Tourist Information       Office where you can obtain lots of information on hotels, resorts and places to go in the state of         Terengganu.

2.Next door is the Bazaar Warisan, a newly built shopping development containing shops selling           souvenirs, gifts, batik and so on.

REDANG ISLAND BEACHES

1. Redang Island beaches are some of the best in Malaysia.

2.The beautiful heart-shaped paradise island of Redang is one of Malaysia’s top beach destinations, situated       about 30 km off the Terengganu coast, just north of Kuala Terengganu.

3.Much of the island’s coastline is rocky with jungle-clad hills dropping straight into the sea.

4.These conditions are good for coral reef formation and with deep water close to the shoreline, the island is    popular with snorkelers and scuba divers.

5.The island is not all rocky and there are a number of superb sandy beaches

1.This is on the same side of the island as Long Beach from which it is separated by a headland. Again a rather inaccessible beach, except by boat or on foot through jungle trails.

2.The beach can be divided into two; Teluk Kalong Kecil, where Redang Kalong Resort is located, and Teluk Kalong Besar, where the Redang Mutiara Beach Resort is found.

3.Two small islands Pulau Kerengga Besar and Kecil are located just offshore this beach, as is a crescent shaped sand bar which is exposed at low tide.

RANTAU ABANG

1.Rantau Abang used to be the place to come at night to watch leatherback turtles lay their eggs.

2.The beach here slopes steeply meaning that mother turtles do not have to waste too much energy to reach a suitable spot near the vegetation line to begin laying their eggs.

3.Also the size of the sand granules on this beach is large which might contribute to making the sand a more welcoming temperature for leatherback mums-to-be.

4.For these reasons this beach became one of only six main nesting sites in the world for these gentle giant creatures which can grow up to 3 meters in length and weigh up to a ton.

5.Back in 1956, when I was just an egg myself, 10,000 nestings were reported along this beach. By 2003 that number had dwindled down to just 2.

6.It has now been several years without any sightings so the leatherback is effectively extinct in this area.
7.The beach here is beautiful with clean orange sand and clear water.

8.The steep slope probably continues under the water which might explain the red flags flying on the beach.

9.There is some basic accommodation here. It is still possible to see turtles in Terengganu. Go to Redang Island.

 ISLAMIC CIVILIZATION PARK

1.One of Terengganu's newer attractions is the Islamic Civilization Park (Taman Tamadun Islam) featuring scaled-down replicas of 22 famous monuments from the Islamic world.

2.It was opened in 2008 on an island in the Terengganu River just 1.2km from the Terengganu State Museum on the outskirts of Kuala Terengganu city.

3.The park claims to provide 'edutainment' and visitors can learn about the spread of Islamic civilization by marvelling at the detailed replicas of 22 famous mosques and tombs from around the world.

The 22 Islamic architectural wonders recreated in the park are:

- National Mosque, Malaysia - Kudus Al Minar, Indonesia
